This year’s Festival will take place Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 10 am-5pm at Horace Mann Middle School in San Francisco’s Mission District. At the event Mrs. Aura Beteta, a prominent leader in the Nicaraguan community, and Supervisor David Campos, a Guatemalan immigrant and civic leader, will be honored with the Festival de Los Volcanes Leadership award.
Performances this year include Los Ramblers, Marianao, Los Rakas, Deuce Eclipse, Grupo Folklorico Xochilt Celi, and others.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is also scheduled to pass a resolution naming October 18th the Day of the Central American People in recognition of the Festival de los Volcanes.
